About the Center

Funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance's Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program, the Training and Technical Assistance Center for Peer Recovery Support Services (TTA Center) supports COAP grantees as they plan, implement, and evaluate PRSS. The TTA Center also provides support to non-grantee jurisdictions and organizations that are working to integrate PRSS into public safety, criminal justice, or child welfare settings.

Our staff provides in-person and virtual TTA. Specific services include consultation; facilitation; and knowledge, skills, and capacity building on topics related to PRSS including:

  • Understanding peer recovery support services and other recovery supports
  • Developing recovery-oriented systems of care
  • Designing and implementing peer support projects
  • Cultivating effective partnerships with secular grassroots communities and faith-based community providers
  • Cultivating and maintaining strategic partnerships
  • Developing a peer workforce
  • Supervising peer support programs
  • Establishing data-collection processes and using of data to improve peer practices

We tailor TTA to the unique environments of each organization with an understanding of the communities and people it serves. To ensure effective TTA, our responses are:

  • Asset-based, building on recipients’ strengths
  • Relevant to and reflective of the program’s organizational culture and context
  • Designed and delivered collaboratively
  • Delivered by providers who have relevant knowledge and experience; and
  • Include appropriate follow-up as capacity building continues
